the basic set is a rectangle. this works with the other teams set. however for ours we will build 5 inner walls to create mirrored corridors with half a hexagon on the end.
the main props will be a mirror connecting the mirrored corridors which will be basically a hole between them.
the other prop will be a wooden chair just in front of the mirror.
the object in each side will reflect each other. the superego will be controlled and passionless whereas the id will be passionate but dark.
i will be working on these metaphorical parallels
one idea i have is a plant pot with flower in the superego and a tangly vines and moss on the id side
one side will be very messy the other ordered
I've debated having the mattress but i think it would only work on the id side so decided not to include it.
another idea would be post its in the superego and ink splits on the other
set design developments
from talking with our group and the production designer of the other set we have decided on a rectangular room. within our group we had a discussion about the actual divide in the set
on one side was our director and assistant director and other side me and the camera team. the issue was we wanted a wall to divide the ID and superego to represent the ego and create an seperation and a more variared amount of shots for the camera team. it creates a more intrapped space which it think represents ones own mind more.
we ended up going with the wall in the middle but im glad we had the discussion.
this was my intial drawing of the other teams set so i could incoprate it into my own
this was my drawing for the intial set. we took a while working with the camera team and director to find this shape. issue we were having was the other group using the door and they also wanted 4 walls at the back.
you can see the seperation of the rooms and intial ideas of changing pannels
this was our working plan. we where going to move the back pannels back 1 and replace that window with the window and bring in the door. this became to complicated and would of caused issue with the wallpapering.
at this point we had talked about the paint colour for the shared side. the colour which was decided was pigeon green, this is a very pale colour of green which we would contrast with dark green rust effect on the other ID side. the set for size and easiness wise was strunck to 3 pannels each side. we also decided to keep the window which would be a blind on the shared side and tattered curtains on the other side.
we then need to think about the colour scapes. to match the other side.
before the set build on thursday we needed to buy linning paper, i need to finish prop list, i needed to do my 3d set design, and sort paint colour .
i messure the pannels and we worked out how many roles we needed
