Dance video vs music video

Dance video vs music video

The main diffrence between Dance videos and Music videos with dance is the former is driven by dance and the later by music. with music videos the song is written first.

for my music video Im going to analysis radioheads lotus flower

this video is a visaul expression of thoms yorks music. he visaulises his lyrics and stories through his dance.

you can see that he is total lost in the music and it drives him.

cinematography

the video starts with thom being in the dark then moving into the light. using light to represent parts of his mentality (due to the lyrics)

the camera stays still in most of the shots allowing the dance to create the movement

as the piece continues the camera starts to fluxuate between wide and close shots to add pace to the dance and add pespective on the dance and the emotions in it.

the piece is all black and white which stops there being any distraction from the piece.

the light is also very directional separating him.

choreography

he uses his hands and arms alot and is lead by them.
he moves slow at times then suddly erratic.
he uses his moves to illustate the lyrics and moods in the song.

future/ proof

Future-proofing is the process of anticipating the future and developing methods of minimizing the effects of shocks and stresses of future events. Future-proofing is used in industries such as electronics, medical industry, industrial design, and, more recently, in design for climate change. The principles of future-proofing are extracted from other industries and codified as a system for approaching an intervention in an historic building.

this video uses wide shots to fully show the movements and inteactions with the enviroment.
it uses very importantly selected close ups to show facial expressions

it uses quick switches of wider shots to show pace and movement and add pespective.

the movements are mostley dependent on interaction.

the graphics are important as they create a relationship

I like the placment of people and framing for importance

the light is very important as it gives it a feeling.
